Ran: August 16th

Recap/Intro

Last we left off, our adventurers had a secret meeting with Torinn Rubyeye, Count of Vornaud and secret Benefactor to the Coincounter Knights. discussions were had, and Torinn promised to bring them on as 'extra security' for the day of the ceremony, aswell as providing a missive that would let them gain access to the Tower district. Their meeting adjourned, the group decided to follow up on their investigation regarding the barrels of goods being taken to the Wild Wardens Warehouse.

Investigating the warehouse, Grub, in rat form, was able to see what looked like a small contingent of bandits preparing several barrels for movement and poring over a map for their final targets. after planning with the group to set a distraction and to sneak in through the roof. unfortunately, the group's leader managed to narrowly see them, and a fight began.

After a long battle, the leader, in a final act, freed a captured displacer beast and set his own man on fire with the map before perishing, however, the group was able to quickly obtain a partially burnt map and kill the displacer beast before it could escape into the city

And here, in a warehouse filled with multiple bodies, a corpse continuing to burn relatively close to several barrels of gunpowder, and a doll screaming it's non-existent lungs out in an alleyway across the street, is where we last left off, so what would you like to do?

Summary

quickly escaped the warehouse after a quick bit of looting. made their way back to Torinn's house in the Towers to show them the map and divvied up responsibilities (Guards covering Gold, Docks, and Towers, Coincounters in the Commons, while the party covers the Square) Grub went outside and talked to a rat to see if they can get any info and learned about the Riga family (Riga-Tony, Riga-Jen, Riga-Mat, and Riga-Morty) and gave them fancy cheese in exchange for information which was that some of the gunpowder barrels may be in the cellar of the Cromwell estate.

Torinn asked if they can check in on a friend to see if they need help in the city, and they went home to long rest, but not before a strange ocurrence from Norman's briefcase that had it shaking violently and spinning in the middle of the night before abruptly stopping.

The next morning, made their way to The Last Drop in the Commons and met up with Vessyn, an old friend of Torinn's who was posing as a drunk. she explained that she's looking into a mercenary band that is offering services to traders that can't put up a fight, and then robbing them once they leave the city. She hasn't been able to locate them since they're pretty cagey and she looks like too much of a fighter to be able to pose as them. she offers to work with them with Norman and Gilbert as bait, and to split whatever they find when they're able to take them down.

After their meeting, they go up to the Gold District to hand over the ledgers to Darius Tyrell, and after the longest 10 minutes of my fucking life, narrowly avoid being thrown in prison.
